I think what you said made a ton of sense. But, consider this, what if you were to create a awesome post title? I mean, I don't wish to tell you how to run your website, however what if you added a title to maybe get folk's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is kinda boring. You should glance at Yahoo's front page and see how they create post headlines to get people to open the links. You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab readers excited about what you've written. In my opinion, it might bring your website a little bit more interesting.
